Heating and cooling · One system
Heat pumps for Springdale and Northwest Arkansas homes
Installation, maintenance and repair of the system that heats in winter and cools in summer, with a technician on call through the night.
Chapter 01
One outdoor unit that heats in January and cools in July
A heat pump moves heat instead of making it. In summer it pulls heat out of the house and sends it outside, like any air conditioner. In winter a reversing valve flips the direction and the same outdoor unit pulls heat from the outside air and brings it in. One system does both jobs, which is why the outdoor unit looks like a condenser and works year-round.
That also means a heat pump fails in ways an air conditioner does not. If the reversing valve sticks, the house can cool when you asked for heat. If the defrost cycle misfires, the outdoor coil can freeze into a block of ice on a cold morning. If the auxiliary heat strips run all day, the bill tells you before the house does.

Heat pump installation, service and repair at Trinity
We install, maintain and repair heat pumps for homes across Springdale and Northwest Arkansas. Most are air-source units, with the outdoor coil trading heat with the air. Ground-source systems exist too, and the geothermal page covers how they differ. A ductless heat pump, the kind with a wall head inside and a small unit outside, is another route, and the mini-split pages cover that.
On a repair call we check what the thermostat is asking for, confirm the reversing valve is shifting, look at the defrost board and sensor, test the capacitor and contactor, and read the refrigerant side with gauges when the symptoms call for it. We also look at the outdoor unit itself: clear space around it, a clean coil, and a base that drains. Open 24 hours, so a heat pump that quits on the coldest night gets the same answer as one that quits in August.
Chapter 03
Care across both seasons
Because a heat pump runs most of the year, it wears faster than a unit that only cools. Two visits a year suit it, and that is what the Trinity System Care schedule gives you. The checklist covers the outdoor coil and fan motor, the disconnect and electrical whip, the condensate drain, the refrigerant lines and the temperature differential, then documents findings so you can see how the system is aging.
Both Trinity memberships include two System Care visits, priority scheduling and a discount on repairs, and each additional system costs less per month than the first. If a heat pump is part of a bigger replacement, the signup credit applies toward a new HVAC system installation. Financing through Synchrony is available.

Heat pump or furnace
Which one fits the house.
A heat pump suits
- A home replacing an air conditioner that wants heat from the same equipment.
- Additions, garages and rooms with no ductwork, served by a ductless head.
- Households that want one system, one service visit and one membership.
A gas furnace suits
- A home with a sound gas line and a furnace closet already built for it.
- Anyone who wants heat that does not depend on outdoor air temperature.
- Replacements where we can look at the existing equipment first. See heating services.
